Seraikela, Sept 28: A transformer repairing workshop launched in the Saraikela-Kharsawan district will bring relief to the otherwise anguished power consumers who have had to suffer the pangs of power supply irregularities due to faulty transformers. Earlier, the malfunctioning transformers used to be sent to Chaibasa for repairs and it took days before these repaired transformers could be reinstalled. This workshop is in the vicinity of the Gudadih Power Substation. Executive Electrical Engineer Maheshwar Kumar said, “Prior to the launch of this transformer Repairing Workshop, the damaged transformers used to be sent to Chaibasa which entailed time and money.

Maheshwar Kumar stated that 41 transformers had been repaired thus far and in quick time since August 18 out of which were 16 25 KVA transformers, five of 63 KVA and 20 of 100 KVA. He added, “There are facilities for repairing 125 and 200 KVA transformers at the workshop. at the workshop. Local residents constitute most personnel at this transformer repair workshop while skilled mechanics have been brought in from other places.”

In view of the approaching Durgotsav, the Executive Electrical Engineer Maheshwar Kumar sought the cooperation of Durga Puja committees to provide details of approximate power to be consumed during Durga Puja celebrations at their individual pandals. He also urged people to be cautious while using electricity.
