Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines has delivered a high-performance transformer unit for the wind power plant Poste du Mont Varin in Northern France, for wind power plant developer Volkswind, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

The Hungarian company, which manufactures transformers, high-power electric motors, generators, and services high-voltage equipment, has completed its first project in France in the new Ganz era, with the order worth nearly HUF 340 million. The commissioning and testing of the custom-designed power transformer were carried out on-site by the heavy equipment manufacturer's service team.

Following the successful commission, Ganz's custom-designed transformer unit will transform the energy generated by the wind farms to the voltage level of the local electricity transmission grid, thus contributing to the security of supply that is also essential for renewable energy production. The transformer units connect the renewable energy plants to the electricity grid, ensuring that the energy produced is not wasted.

Following the change of ownership and the reorganization process, Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines, founded in 2020, has been continuously working to increase its production volume and strengthen its international position. As a result, the Hungarian heavy equipment manufacturer, which is primarily export-focused, has already contracted 80% of its projected volume of orders for this year in the first quarter. The company is already active in nearly 15 countries and most of its export projects are renewable.

"Following our cooperation in previous years, this is the first project with Volkswind Gmbh in the new era of Ganz, and an important part of this project was the on-site installation and testing of the transformer unit by our service team. Our long-term partnership with the French wind power developer lies on solid foundations, and it is further underlined by the fact that we will deliver another 75 MVA transformer unit to them in early 2023," said Jan Prins, managing director of Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines.
