The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men and has issued an arrest warrant for a another in connection with an oil release at an Entergy substation in the parish, according to Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Ronald Clark, 55, and Gerard Henninger Jr., 30, both of the 2300 block of Esteban Street in Arabi, were both booked on Tuesday and face charges in connection with the damage to critical infrastructure and simple burglary.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Jeremy Johnston, 34, also of the 2300 block of Esteban Street, who is also wanted for damage to a critical infrastructure and simple burglary.

On Sunday, around 9:30 a.m., Sheriff Pohlmann said deputies responded to a call of suspicious activity near the 4200 block of Jean Lafitte Parkway in Chalmette.

When deputies arrived they found green fluid in the marsh that was leaking from an Entergy substation left inactive after a tornado damaged the Arabi area in March, according to Pohlmann.

Pohlmann said the leak was caused by the valves of two large oil-filled transformers being removed as a result of criminal activity.

Detectives worked with a scrap yard to identify Clark, Henninger and Johnston as the perpetrators, according to the sheriff. Clark and Henninger were taken into custody and transported to St. Bernard Parish Prison to be booked on the above charges. Detectives are still looking for Johnston.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Jeremy Johnston, or any other information relating to this incident, is asked to call the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office at 504-271-2501, the Criminal Investigations Bureau’s tip hotline at 504-271-TIPS or 8477, or Crimestoppers GNO at 504-822-1111.
