A couple of local food distribution events are planned for this weekend.
The first will be held Saturday in Chicora at the Christ’s Family Church parking lot on West Slippery Rock Street from noon until 4 p.m. Boxes containing fresh produce and other food will be distributed.
Another distribution is also planned for Saturday in neighboring Lawrence County beginning at 10 a.m. at The Towne Mall Cascade Galleria Plaza in New Castle.
Volunteers will load boxes of fresh milk provided by Marburger Dairy, as well as assorted fresh produce and shelf-stable food into the vehicles of families in need. Organizers hope to distribute thousands boxes of food to up to 1,500 families on a first come, first served basis.
