A fire broke out in the main market of Kubwa in Abuja on Friday, and people feared that many people would die.

The fire was caused by the explosion of a mobile phone used by a kerosene seller.

An eyewitness told the Daily Mail that mobile phones used by kerosene sellers caused the massacre.

He said that, including the seller, several shops and personnel were burned to death.

According to eyewitnesses: “It is speculated that the fire was not caused by the explosion of the transformer, but by the telephone. When the explosion occurred, the woman selling kerosene was selling products with the flashlight of the mobile phone.

"I believe the explosion was caused by electromagnetic waves from the mobile phone. The explosion threw the kerosene canister from the ground onto the roof of the square, where it caught fire.

"Although some people think it was a bomb, others think it was a transformer explosion. But, I was there; I saw it. The incident was caused by the phone.

"Many people were burned to death, including women selling kerosene; some children were burned beyond recognition.

"Some shops were burned down."

When asked about the work of the fire department, witnesses said: “The firefighters arrived late, but the boys in the area were able to control the fire.”

Another witness, Cecilia Ajegba, said the explosion was caused by a transformer near the kerosene tank.

She said: "The fire was caused by the explosion of a power transformer that closed the market. The explosion affected a nearby kerosene tank, which caused the fire to erupt.

"When the explosion occurred, the fire spread and ignited some people around the market.

"The police did not allow us to approach because they forgiven the place, but those who approached said that about five people were killed."
